Lived Experience Partners (LEP)

The I-HEAL Lived Experience Partners (LEP) are stakeholders who provide crucial insights into the experiences of patients living with brain injury and their loved ones. Our Lived Experience Partners include both people with traumatic brain injuries and caregivers or care partners of those with TBI.

How Lived Experience Partners Contribute to I-HEAL

LEPs guide how we approach research for all projects and cores in I-HEAL. Their input ensures that research is responsive to the needs of those with brain injury and representative of diverse experiences for individuals with TBI and their families. Incorporating the LEP throughout I-HEAL’s work drives innovation based in real world solutions.

After every monthly meeting, Lived Experience Partners receive a short survey to provide feedback and ideas for improvement. The LEP’s responses guide future interactions across I-HEAL.

Leadership and I-HEAL Engagement Opportunities

Our Lived Experience Partners also serve in two leadership positions in I-HEAL.

  • Co-Chair Position: Lived Experience Co-Chair is a rotating position within the LEP. The co-chair attends team I-HEAL meetings to increase representation of LEP and synergy among projects.
  • Social Media Liaisons: LEP members support social media content ideas and creation and lend insight on strategy, data, and potential partnerships.

Our Lived Experience Partners have been integral in sharing I-HEAL’s work.
